Dress shirts: Factory & Retail

Brooks Brothers offers a different sizing structure for our factory outlet dress shirts than our mainline dress shirts. Outlined below are a few key differences between the sizing and how factory sizes translate to mainline.

Factory: Split
Split sleeve sizing refers to how the sleeve length may accommodate either size the garment supports with the double barrel cuff (two-button cuff) construction.

For example, if a garment has a 16 1/2" neck size with a 34/35" sleeve length then the innermost button will maintain the length at 34", whereas the outermost button will extend the length to 35".

Mainline: Exact
Exact sleeve sizing refers to the single sleeve length of the garment. The precise measurement provides a more crisp, clean finish when worn because there is no excess fabric.

How Do I Determine My Exact Measurement from a Factory Dress Shirt?
The quickest method to identify your exact sleeve length is to look at what button you use on the cuff of your sleeve. If you are more comfortable with the innermost button, then you would choose the shorter sleeve length. If you use the outermost button on the cuff, then you are the longer sleeve length.
